More species of linden is known, in Hungary the following ones are native: silver linden (Tilia argentea), small-leaved linden (Tilia cordata) and large-leaved linden (Tilia platyphyllos). They are mostly common in highlands. The density of the timber is low, but it can be carved very well, though it is not recommended for outside use.
It is mainly used as raw material for the furniture industry, but it is common in the veneer and in the composite board production as well.
